25th South by Southwest Festival
The annual South by Southwest Music and Media Conference & Festival would run from 11th to 20th March in Austin, Texas. The event will see the participation of members from the international film, music, and interactive media fraternity. Almost 2,000 bands from some 50 countries across the world participate in this mega festival. Almost 80 venues are prepared for hosting the numerous performances and nearly 100,000 music aficionados come to the event. This event is so popular that some fans vie to book cheap flights while others don't mind spending generously even on the business class flights for visiting the festival. Camping facilities are not available at the event.
20th Lollapalooza
Come August and Illinois, Chicago will rock with the excitement of the Lollapalooza. The festival enjoys an iconic status and owes its origins to alternative music. This year, Lollapalooza will witness global expansion and Santiago, Chile has been chosen for a weekend of events. A world of amusing acts will be featured as part of the celebrations. In 2010, the major headliners included Soundgarden, Green Day, and Lady Gaga. Similarly, visitors can expect further festivities in 2011. This festival also does not offer camping facilities.
12th Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
The Southern California desert will come alive with the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and will spice up the trip of anyone planning to take cheap holidays to California. Coachella has been around for about 10 years and has become a colourful multi stage event. Some of the names in the 2011 line up are Alf Alpha, Angus and Julia Stone, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, and Empire of the Sun. Celebrations would be held from 15th April to 19th April at the Empire Polo Grounds. The charge for camping facilities in 2010 was about $250.
10th Bonnaroo Festival
The Bonnaroo Festival is a four day affair and has gained immense popularity in its nearly 10 years of existence. As much as 90,000 revellers aim to grab cheap tickets to flock to the Great Stage Park in Manchester for this spectacular event. The Great Stage Park is a huge farm measuring some 700 acres. The famed Bonnaroo Festival amongst the top grossing North American festivals. It has also been immortalised by the Rolling Stone. According to this world famous band, the Bonnaroo Festival is one of the 50 moments that has rewritten the history of rock and roll. The 2011 line up boasts famous names such as Eminem, The Black Keys, Girl Talk, The Black Angels, and many others.
41st Roskilde Festival
The Roskilde Festival is hailed as one of largest music festivals in Europe and over 80,000 spectators book their cheap flights for this event. The festival will be held in Demark and would witness the participation of more than 180 bands. Iron Maiden and Kings of Leon are amongst the celebrated names that are gracing the 2011 line up. Although, officially the festival will last from 30th June to 3rd July, festivities would start earlier. In fact, warm up events will start right from 26th June. While the cost of one day tickets is about €117, about €232 are charged for a weeklong ticket. Such a ticket includes camping charges as well.
37th Rock Werchter Festival
Anyone who plans to book cheap flights to Belgium in the near future should try to visit from 30th June to 3rd July. This is the time of the Belgium Rock Werchter. This is yet another major European festival and lures over 110,000 visitors. The line up for 2011 includes Chemical Brothers, Kings of Leon, Iron Maiden, and Coldplay. The price of a one day pass is about €76, while four day passes cost some €195. Visitors looking for campsite tickets will need to pay an extra €18, while the cost of a larger site is about €25.
14th Fuji Rock Festival
The Fuji Rock Festival is a hit with rock fans as well as connoisseurs of nature. In fact, the venue's location at the pristine Naeba Ski Resort in the Niigata Prefecture of Japan makes it all the more popular. Musical performances are held over as many as seven stages. The largest stage can host nearly 40,000 spectators. This gala event is attended by over 100,000 visitors who are entertained by nearly 200 performers from different parts of the world. The 2011 festival will stretch from 29th July to 31st July.
